Every pet has their day...

Those of you who have read the previous blog know of my best friend Toby, or Peanut Butter as I affectionately call him. If he was only allowed one thing in life he would live with peanut butter alone! He can be at the other end of the house and I will scream for him to come, he never comes. Open up the lid to the peanut butter and Poof! he appears! We all have dogs like that I am sure. Toby and I were surfing the web the other day and came upon a pet blog. It is a blog on the daily lives of two french bulldogs, Francesca and Sharkey. I can only imagine what glorified truths Toby would be posting on his blog! I am sure all of you can think of some of those moments only the dog saw!! The other day I was filling my fish tank with more water, got side tracked and flooded the kitchen. I only remembered I had done this because Toby came running in the other room barking at me and then looking at the direction of the kitchen! I can see it now: The day I saved the house from flooding, written by Toby. Next time you and your furry friend have some time check out the blog. Who knows maybe Toby will have one someday! http://dailywag.marthastewart.com/?pid=1225&pageid=682&gallery=136#a136

It's Raining Cats and Dogs

The weather channel gives new meaning to the old saying "it's raining cats and dogs"! As I am sitting in my office searching the web I am listening to the softest little whimper coming from the corner of the room. I look over and looking oh so adorable (as always!) is my border collie Toby. He has now been up for about 3 hours and we have yet to go for a walk! Boy oh boy is he mad! Toby is a typical smart border collie but thank goodness not smart enough to surf the web. The weather channel now offers a personal pet weather report. I can only imagine trying to convince him it really is going to rain out (you know, in about 8 hours!), as he turns and points to his personal forecast! It really is quite the neat little site, it gives you all the typical information you would have on the human side of it including the best time to go for a walk! http://www.weather.com/activities/homeandgarden/pets/?from=petsredirect Next time you have time you should check it out. Just make sure it is not interfering with the dog walk time!!

They Need Our Help......

We have all unfortunatly experienced being in a hospital at some point during our lives. It can be a very lonely and stressful situation. When we are at home and we have a bad day who do we always know we can count on?? Our dog of course!! Well why not be able to have that same comfort when you are in the hospital. There are many different groups out there that spend there time at local hospitals and retirement homes. This provides a big smile for those that really need it. Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights is currently in need of volunteers to come into the hospital with their dog and visit people. You can go to the site listed here for more information. http://www.nch.org/community/benefit/animal_therapy.php
If you feel you may be in need of a few pointers before you head in that direction feel free to give our trainer Allan a call. He has many different training options available!
