Allergy Alert Dog

There are many different types of service dogs out there. Some that are trained as protection dogs, others that are trained to sniff out drugs or fruits. There are also the service dogs that are trained to help the blind and other disabled people live normal lives. Then there is the service dog trained in scent discrimination. Angel Service Dogs based out of Colorado trains dogs to be an "allergy alert dog". As a parent you have hundreds of things to worry about on any given day when it comes to your children. Can you imagine needing to worry about whether your daughter walked in the same hallway as a student drinking milk? Or perhaps sitting in the theater watching a movie 10 rows away from someone who was eating a box of Cracker Jacks? For some parents this is an everyday worry. However with the help of Angel Service Dogs and other companies like them they no longer need to worry. There is a wonderful story in the recent edition of the Daily Herald, telling of a local family and their mission to raise money for their daughter, Kate Slobodian, so she can have her very own "allergy alert dog". There most current event will be held on October 31 at The Hastings Lake YMCA in Lindenhurst.
